Cassatt Active Response Controller: Troubleshooting
Intended for use with
Cassatt Active Response V5.0.
The following material outlines problems you may encounter with the Controller, along with the steps to solve those problems.
Number of alerts in Alerts Log tab and alerts list do not match
Description
Although the number of alerts shown in Alerts Log tab is always correct, you may not see all alerts in the list when the Acknowledged filter is set to "No."
Resolution
To find a missing alert, you need to search through batches of events:
- On the Alerts Log page, set the Acknowledge filter (leftmost drop-down menu) to "Acknowledged - All" to display all alerts.
- Click Filter.
- In the upper right drop-down menu, select a range from the drop-down menu based on where in the list you think the alert might be.
- Click Filter and see if the missing alert is found.
- Repeat above steps until the missing alert is found.
Conflicts in /usr when updating Solaris 9 image
Description
When updating a Solaris 9 image, you may see files in /usr that appear as conflicts. If these files are not located within an instance-specific directory (see the image properties), these files are not actually conflict.
Resolution
Ignore these conflicts in /usr and select either "KEEP EXISTING" or "TAKE NEW" depending on how you want to resolve the other conflicting files. The files in /usr will be updated correctly.
Controller pages fail to refresh
Description
During disk I/O operations such as image import or tier creation, the Controller UI does not refresh. This condition may occur if the disk is not fast enough to accommodate large I/O operations.
Resolution
Verify that the control nodes are using SCSI hard drives,
which are recommended by the Cassatt Quality Engineering
team and specified in the Control Node and Network Setup documentation
(see the info central doc
index for your make/model control
nodes).
Cancelled operation completes
Description
You cancelled an operation, such as a tier image update or a tier deletion, but the operation completed anyway.
Resolution
If you cancel an operation midway through, it may be too late, and the operation completes just as Cassatt Active Response receives the cancel command. In that case, you'll need to backtrack by doing the operation in reverse—readd the tier, for example, or update the tier image to the previous version.
