The Mobile Collage Cluster (MCC) - Have Collage, Will Travel

The Collage product development team has assembled a mobile collage cluster (MCC) to help expedite proof-of-concept customer engagements and live demonstrations of Collage functionality.

Cassatt maintains two MCCs, each configured slightly differently.

Dell MCC

  • Single Collage control node - Dell 1850
  • 10 application nodes - Dell 1750s with DRAC remote management
  • 2 switches - Dell 5224

HP MCC

  • Single Collage control node - HP DL385
  • 4 application nodes - HP DL385 with iLO remote management
  • 2 switches - Dell 5224

These each reside in a 20U rack that has been shock mounted into a shipping case. These configurations show redundant networking and Collage power control, and can be easily set up to demonstrate node replacement and dynamic service allocation/deallocation based on user defined policies.

So, if you would like to see Collage in action, let your friendly neighborhood Cassatt sales/service rep know you'd like to take the MCC for a test drive.

Deploying business applications: Where do I start?

Do you have questions about your business applications and Collage? Answers are right here on Info Central. Check it out:

Where can I get detailed instructions? Blueprints provide detailed instructions we've thoroughly tested to help you deploy popular enterprise-level software. Use a blueprint exactly as written (if you plan to deploy the same version of the same application), or use it as an example to select similar settings for your own application. If you've never used a Collage blueprint, start with my article, Introduction to Blueprints: Guidelines to Deploying Applications.

Where can I learn about Collage settings and what works best with my application? Look on the topics page under Application Configuration for application-related planning docs. In this section of the site you'll find information about service-level agreements, deployment constraints, monitoring, and more.
